Leah's Shower

Friday night, i skipped a wedding shower for one of my oldest friends, Leah (Powell) to stay home and watch the X-Files. I'm hoping to be forgiven on account of the 1000 miles that currently separate me from Wichita, KS, but i have not yet determined whether this hope is naive optimism or reasonably considered reality. Sorry, my darlings. I will return, one day.

My mom, however, was in attendance, and sent me a number of photographs. I'm still in shock. I mean, it's been seven months or so since i've last seen any of the girls, but even when i did, they were always in leotards and tights with well-coifed buns. Wearing street clothes and existing outside of the dance studio, they all look so much older.  Inevitable consequence of time, sure...but still, i don't think it will ever stop surprising me.
